Opis wydarzenia
WHEN?   Join us for the exclusive Elixir Escape on Sunday 22th to Saturday 28th July 2018. You will learn the art of medieval manuscript writing at the monastery's scriptorium -you will be working on a botanical miniature from a medieval handbook known as Tacuinum Sanitatis, using natural pigments and gold leaf. The workshop will be run by Barbara Bodziony, an art historian, calligrapher, illuminator, an alumnus of the Jagiellonian University and the European Higher Institute of Illumination and Manuscripts in Angers, France.   Last three days you will spend in a magical Krakow exploring its art and culture.
THREE NIGHTS AT THE MONASTERY, 22-25 JULY   You will spend 3 nights at the monastery followed by 3 nights in a magical Krakow and its surroundings.   The Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec is the oldest existing monastery in Poland. The first Benedictines arrived here around the mid-11th century. The monastery hill, however, had been inhabited much earlier, already in the fourth millennium before Christ. The architectural complex of the Abbey is beautifully located on the rocky bank of the Vistula River (12 km from the historical center of Cracow).              The Guest House is a part of the monastery – the home of the monks who pray and work here. We invite you to enter this sacred space and experience the pervasive Spirit. If you wish to, you can join the monks in their work and in their prayers. You can also speak individually to the Fathers. We hope you will find here the blessing of a true peace.   You would be able to join the monks in their prayers and meditation every morning at 6am, during the day and in the evening. The breakfast will be served at 7.30am. The scriptorium workshop will start at 9am with the lunch break at 1pm and will end at 5pm. Dinner will be served at 6.30pm.The food will be vegetarian.
THREE NIGHTS IN KRAKOW, 25-28 July   Once a settlement during the Stone Age, Krakow is now considered the cultural and academic center of Poland. The city’s history is a long and layered one, as it’s gone through many transformations and transitions over the centuries. You will  be able to see the incredible architecture, hundreds of historic sites, and eat in one of many cafes and restaurants. You will find yourself overwhelmed by the harmony of a quiet back street, the ‘just so’ nature of the architecture and light.   You will have a chance to see Wawel Castle, beautiful churches, impressive museums ( with a famous Leonardo da Vinci "Lady with an Ermine"), the former Jewish quarter, Kazimierz. We will take you on the trip to Wieliczka Salt Mine- one of the most valuable monuments of material and spiritual culture in Poland.
You will be able to take part in the moments of silence and meditation in one of the most beautiful churches, have a walk in the park before we all have breakfast at alluring Camelot Cafe in a quiet part of Old Town at 9am.
